Continuing Revolution 2025: Queer Liberation and Spirit-Rooted Justice
A gathering of young adults (ages 18-35) to explore connections between our spiritual, political, and interpersonal lives. Join us on-site at Friends Place in Washington, DC, or participate online hosted by Pendle Hill.
In celebration of World Pride taking place in Washington, DC, this year’s programming is centered around the theme of queer liberation and spirit-rooted justice. Participants will be invited to explore where their spiritual practice intersects with the collective pursuit for queer liberation. They will leave with a sense of connection with individuals and organizations that can support and inform their role(s) in creating peace and justice in their communities and in the world.
See the full schedule of workshops and activities.
This program welcomes young adults aged 18-35 who are Quaker or Quaker-adjacent/interested, “fellow travelers and seekers,” and any of the following:

- Curious about the structures of our world at present;
- Curious about queer liberation in particular;

Showing of Citizen George
An intersex, Trans, Christian, and Quaker experience
A member of Haddonfield Meeting, Deidre Gavel will share her personal story and address common objections – Biblical, biological, and historical – to legal rights and protections for trans and intersex individuals. “With the rise in anti- trans bigotry and hate, especially in the wake of the recent election, it is more important than ever to understand who trans and Intersex people are, the truth behind the claims about these individuals, and the realities of these lives.”
Deidre hopes to demonstrate that rather than being fact – based, most, if not all of the major objections today are based on a religious and political-based campaign to whip up fear, political division, and votes.
This program will run 11:15 AM – 12:15 PM, following silent worship 10-11 AM. A potluck lunch will follow the program. Haddonfield Friends Meeting is located at 47 Friends Avenue, one block from both Kings Highway and Haddon Avenue, and a half mile walk from the Haddonfield PATCO station.
“Inlaws and Outlaws” film showing
A special showing of the film, “Inlaws and Outlaws” on Saturday, November 16, with a pizza dinner at 6 PM and movie at 7 PM, at Haddonfied Friends Meeting, 47 Friends Avenue, Haddonfield NJ. The event is free; all are welcome.
Funny and poignant, “Inlaws & Outlaws is an acclaimed documentary by filmmaker and oral historian Drew Emery. It weaves together the true stories of couples and singles— gay and straight—to create a collective narrative of stories of love, loss and belonging.”

Celebrating & Nurturing Support for Queer Youth
Throughout the month of June, Pride celebrations have happened across our PYM region. As the month comes to a close we can carry on that spirit of affirmation and inclusion. In this year when religious groups and government legislation are fighting to repress queer youth and their families, PYM celebrates the importance of our LGBTQ+ community. The Youth Programs Advisory Committee recently approved a minute of support for the LGBTQ+ youth, staff, families, and volunteers in our Youth Programs, which was accepted in June by the Quaker Life Council. There is more work to do! Shared here is the YPAC minute in full, along with resources and reflections on how we can continue to educate and celebrate belonging for all in our local meetings and yearly meeting community.
