Niranjan Takle: Journalist on the Fascist Trail
Today in India under the current fascist dispensation, speaking truth to power is a very risky business. Those who dare are harassed by various government agencies, must be ready for jail time or, worst, be ready to pay the price with their lives. Still under these extremely trying conditions there are few voices of resistance which have refused to shut up. One such rare profile in courage is Mr. Niranjan Takle. An electronic engineer by training, Mr. Takle left a lucrative career in engineering to become an investigative journalist with the motto ‘’Tell the truth and shame the devil.” He investigated the mysterious death of Judge Loya. In 2014, Judge Loya died under mysterious circumstances while presiding over a murder case in which then President of BJP, the ruling party in India, and the current home minister of India, Amit Shah, was an accused. Mr. Takle’s report exposed the nefarious activities of people in power and rattled the authorities. His investigative journalism has also shed light on the genesis of Hindu fundamentalism, the bedrock of the current fascist government in India. Mr. Takle, through his work, has steadfastly stood against the oppression of minorities that is rampant in today’s India.
