Greenwich Friends Meeting, in Cumberland County, New Jersey, denounces the policies and actions of the Trump administration in its authorization of the Department of Homeland Security and allied government services to illegally stop, search and detain citizens and non-citizens without judicial warrants. We protest the use of unnecessary force, including murder, against law-abiding persons. We object to the infringement of constitutional rights and the flouting of the rule of law by officials at every level of government which are destroying the ideals that America has fostered for two hundred and fifty years.
We condemn the administration’s cruel and illegal actions against undocumented immigrants as well as immigrants who are trying to comply with the bureaucracy of the US Citizen and Immigration Services.
We condemn the administration’s use of the US Military on US soil in violation of the Posse Comitatus Act and we demand the withdrawal of forces now so deployed.
We support all non-violent protests as expressions of free speech guaranteed by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.
We pledge to pursue peaceful opposition to the administration’s cruel and illegal procedures against law-abiding people in the United States who have come here seeking asylum and a better life.
