“From the beginning, Fox and other early Quakers gave all who have followed a map to live our lives by. We are equals, one to the other. West Chester Friends Meeting is aware of the different ways in which the LGBTQIA+ community has, over the years, been silenced and excluded across many levels of society. As Quakers we never will accept the silencing of those voices among us. When members of the LGBTQIA+ community are disregarded, a vibrant segment of our humanity is lost, to the detriment of us all. Therefore, we explicitly celebrate and welcome the presence of our LGBTQIA+ Friends into all aspects of our Meeting.”
This spring, West Chester/Chester County PFLAG chapter is hosting a Parenting with Pride event on May 17th. Meeting member Kristin Schultz, is leading a breakout session during the day and Melinda Wenner Bradley is participating in a Faith Leaders panel discussion.
Additionally, the meeting will have a tent at this year’s Chester County Pride Fest on June 7th in Phoenixville.
