Grants Awarded
The Granting Group awarded $760 in travel assistance for a young adult to attend the National Congress of American Indians Youth Commission’s 2024 Native Youth Convention October 27 to November 1 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Native American House Alliance was awarded $2,000 and used the funds to create a documentary film project on Native Americans in Philadelphia.
Borikua Taino Foundation was awarded $2,000 in support travel to the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (April 27-May 5) and for three virtual inter-generational healing circles and panel discussions (May and summer 2025).
Friends Peace Teams / Toward Right Relationship with Native Peoples (Paula Palmer) was awarded $1,500 to compensate Indigenous facilitators for online and in-person workshops (spanning 2025 calendar year).
Herring Pond Wampanoag Tribe, Plymouth, was awarded $2,000 in support of training tribal members (to augment professional skills) to conserve and use historical records and objects.
Puerto Rican Folklore Dance / Cultural Center in Austin, TX was awarded a grant of $1,000 for travel expenses to Puerto Rico to research Taino history and traditions to prepare a theater piece documenting history and traditions (research to be done this summer with development of theater in fall).
The group awarded a grant to Indigenous Peoples’ Day Philly to support the work of the Lenape Program Working Group of IPD Philly. This included travel expenses of Lenape Delaware tribal members from the federally recognized tribes to participate in IPD Philly on October 13 as well as other programs in which they might participate at other times of the year.
