We are thrilled to welcome Alix C. Vallery as Development Associate (pictured left) and Ashley Slaff as a new counselor with Friends Counseling Service (pictured right). We are excited for the experience and dedication they will bring to their roles within Philadelphia Yearly Meeting.
Alix C. Vallery has served the Middle School Friends community for seven years, including two years as a Friendly Adult Presence. They bring a diverse professional background, with 15 years as a chef as well as experience in IT and sales. Alix is excited to begin their new role as Development Associate and is committed to supporting the life of the Religious Society of Friends, identifying as a spiritual Quaker.
Outside of work, Alix enjoys CrossFit, road trips, and caring for their household of two dogs, two birds, and a tortoise.
With Alix stepping into their role as Development Associate, we are pleased to introduce Ashley Slaff as a new counselor for Friends Counseling Service. Ashley is a licensed marriage and family therapist and certified peer specialist who utilizes affirming and inclusive approaches and trauma-informed practices to support people of all ages in cultivating well-being and coping with life’s challenges.
For Ashley, joy comes from learning through connection and collaboration, practicing discernment, and exploring natural landscapes—often with one or two scruffy pups in tow.
Let us warmly welcome Alix and Ashley as they join the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting community in their new roles!
