Quaker witness for public action has stood in silent opposition to cruel and authoritarian actions in our country before. It is time for us to show this love in action again.
Please join the American Friends Service Committee and other Friends Meetings and Organizations in the Greater Philadelphia Area, to bear witness in the face of rising authoritarianism.
On Saturday April 25th, we will gather at City Hall (15th Street and JFK Blvd in Center City, Philadelphia) for one hour of silent public worship and community fellowship, while holding signs and banners (homemade and printed) that express our witness in the face of rising authoritarianism.
Our hope is that our presence will give heart to all who see us – including through media and online communications – and remind everyone of our moral obligations to one another. April marks our fifth monthly vigil, where we will join with over 30 cities across the nation.
If you plan to attend, please register using the following link:
Registration will allow us to keep you apprised of important updates prior to the day’s action (including a day of action toolkit), and to ensure we have enough supplies for attendees upon arrival. If you have any questions about the event, please don’t hesitate to contact us at loveasaction@afsc.org.
Other vigils happening in or close to the PYM region include Pittsburgh, PA, Quakertown, PA, Kennett Square, PA, Trenton, NJ, Montclair, NJ, and Baltimore, MD. More information can be found at https://www.mobilize.us/afsc/?org_ids=42053.
