On Sunday, November 9, at 9:00 am, members and attenders across the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting region will gather in worship, joining from meetinghouses, online, and wherever they are able to participate. All Together Worship is an opportunity for our intergenerational community to experience semi-programmed worship, held as part of Fall Continuing Sessions.
This year’s Sessions theme, Members One of Another, is reflected in the spirit of this time together. While distance may sometimes feel like separation, this worship experience connects Friends in faith and practice.
Across Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, Friends wait together in the quiet and listen for what may be shared through ministry, prayer, and song.
Faith and Practice includes information on meeting for worship in that it shares on how Friends understand and enter worship. Meeting for worship is a primary setting for the experience of the Divine Presence. Early Friends took literally the understood words of Jesus: “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20). These early Friends found that the Light Within could be known through stillness and listening together.
Each person’s way of worship is personal. Sitting together, in person or over zoom, in expectant waiting joins Friends in the same spirit that has guided worship for generations.
The Zoom link for All Together Worship is the same one used for all of the Fall Continuing Sessions online and hybrid gatherings, and participants will receive the link when they register.
Whether a local meeting gathers together in their meetinghouse to join virtually or individuals log in from home, All Together Worship offers a shared experience of unity, where every person’s presence and ministry are part of the whole.
