Children and youth will have space to be with one another during Annual Sessions. Some moments will be simple, and others will be full of creativity and play. The Youth Programs team is putting care into planning a weekend that feels welcoming and joyful.
Our youngest Friends will gather with Crystal Hershey and Abby Brace-Higgins. Older children will be with Daniel Doan and Elizabeth Croce-Karaca. Volunteers will be nearby to support both groups. Some time will be spent in small circles, and some with everyone together; writing the youth epistle, playing outdoor games, watching a movie Friday night, and joining in All-Together Worship on Sunday.
The theme, Members One of Another, will carry through the weekend. Youth will explore it through stories, games, and music with Timothy Simmons, this year’s Artist in Residence. Tim is part of Old Haverford Meeting and teaches music at Delaware Valley Friends School. His approach to rhythm, language, and improvisation makes room for imagination and connection. He will be with the youth throughout the weekend.
Families will eat meals together and take part in shared activities, including Saturday night’s drum circle, crafts, and kickball. There will also be space for parents and grandparents to gather and reflect on their experiences of Quaker family life.
The youth program runs from Friday morning through Sunday lunch, with time each day to create, play, and worship. Friends are welcome to join in person at Cheyney University.
