Ahead of the upcoming climate witness thread gathering, a new resource is now available for Friends working in or with schools. Creating a Playbook for Climate Action in Schools helps educators, students, and trustees plan faithful, coordinated steps toward environmental responsibility.
Schools are places where learning and discussion shape awareness. Across different times, they have provided opportunities to consider shared concerns and responsibilities. Many are now studying how the climate crisis affects their communities and what actions are possible within their means.
Creating a Playbook for Climate Action in Schools is an adaptation of the PYM resource for use in educational settings. It presents schools as learning environments with opportunities for change. The guide offers planning tools to support school communities in understanding their environmental impact and working together toward shared goals.
Developed through the yearly meeting’s ongoing climate witness, Creating a Playbook for Climate Action in Schools invites participation across the community of a school. It offers structure and encouragement for team work.
The final edition of Creating a Playbook for Climate Action in Schools is still being refined, but the current version is available to support care for the Earth in schools. If you notice a typo or formatting issue, please email communication@pym.org so this resource can keep improving for everyone.
