Our Meeting attendance has been slowly growing over the past year, and we are grateful and happy about that. We have also welcomed two of our attenders to become official members of the Meeting. We have increased from regular Sunday attendance of about 7-8 Friends to approximately double that. Some are new Friends who have just discovered us, and several are Friends who have returned to us after a period away. We are feeling a new infusion of energy and willingness to engage in projects to benefit the Meeting and the larger community.
When our Meeting was larger, we had regular planned forums after Meeting for Worship, but in our current state, we are all benefitting from the robust and wide-ranging discussions that have been occurring organically in our fellowship time after Meeting for Worship. However, we have recently been talking about planning some more formal forums on our various spiritual paths and perhaps offering a Quakerism 101 class for our newer members/attenders.
As for the climate witness, our Clerk, Marc Brier is an active participant in the Earth Quaker Action Team (EQAT) and has recently been asked to join its board. Additionally, we are adding more native plants and trees on our property to create habitat and food for wildlife. This will benefit the environment by conserving water, protecting soil from erosion, and reducing the amount of lawn. Another benefit will be adding to the aesthetic appearance of the Meeting House.
