State of the Society Annual Report of the Lewes Worship Group, given to Southern Quarter, January 19, 2026
During 2025, the Lewes Worship Group held regular First Day Meetings for Moorings Worship at 10 am in the Quiet Room at the Moorings at Lewes continuing care community. Average attendance was six Friends, equally Moorings residents and those from outside. We communicate with some former members who can no longer drive. During tourist season, we have about 12 in attendance. We had one group of visitors from Sandy Spring, MD, Meeting. Family members of the Hoovers also increase our numbers on occasion. A few of us attend Quarterly Meeting at other locations and emails tell us of pending events and remind us of our responsibilities to the Camden Meeting, our parent Meeting.
A collection was taken to give to the Food Bank of Delaware. The Food Bank said our contributions would help provide 1000 meals to needy Delawareans. As a contribution to the Moorings continuing care community, we provided a Christmas Carol sing along with Roy Zatcoff playing the piano in the main building. At the request of an attendee, the Meeting has started a once-a-month discussion group of Quaker values held before the Meeting for Worship to further our spiritual education.
