Love As Action: Philadelphia – AFSC

Quaker witness for public action has stood in silent opposition to cruel and authoritarian actions in our country before. It is time for us to show this love in action again.
Please join the American Friends Service Committee, Friends Meetings and Quaker organizations in the Greater Philadelphia Area, to bear witness to the destruction and dehumanization that federal immigration actions are inflicting in our communities.
On Saturday Dec. 6 at Noon, we will gather at Love Park (16th Street and JFK Blvd in Center City, Philadelphia) for one hour of silent public worship and community fellowship, while holding signs and banners (homemade and printed) that express our unwavering support for immigrants in our communities.
Our hope is that our presence will give heart to all who see us – including through media and online communications – and remind everyone of our moral obligations to one another.
This is the first of what we hope will become a series of actions in future months all across our country, showing love in action as a public witness of our Quaker values in a time of rising fascism.
