Celebrating the Legacy of Anna T. Jeanes: Stories of Stewardship and Generosity

Join us on April 11 at the historic Stapeley Hall as we celebrate Anna T. Jeanes’ Birthday and how this Philadelphia Friend’s faith and generosity continue to shape our world today, while learning how we can all build our own legacies of impact.

You will hear from historians, Quaker leaders, and Friends from around the country, including:

  • Kay Sackett, a historian, will share from her research from her new book on how Anna’s upbringing and family influenced her philanthropy
  • A resident at Stapeley Hall will talk about life at the hall today and the connections between Wesley Enhanced Living’s work and Anna’s values
  • Martin Ogletree, a board member on the Anna T. Jeanes Foundation and Temple University Health System, will highlight their continued impact
  • Raymond Pierce, President of the Southern Education Foundation, will present on the origins of the foundation and how they elevate learning for students from low-income families and students of color in the southern states
  • Kerry Roeder, Executive Director of Historic Fairhill, will tell us about Anna’s final resting place at Historic Fairhill and how their work continues to benefit from her legacy
  • Mimi Blackwell, Director of Philanthropic Services at Friends Fiduciary, will discuss how we can follow Anna’s example by planning our own charitable giving

*Stapeley Hall was founded in 1904 as a boarding home for Philadelphia Friends thanks to a five-acre property gifted by Anna T. Jeanes. It is now operated by Wesley Enhanced Living, a nonprofit that operates continuing care retirement communities, serving 1,200 senior residents.
