With Daniel Doan bringing fresh energy and ideas, and Elizabeth Croce-Karaca’s decade of dedicated service, we are shaping a new vision for MSF—and we hope you’ll be part of it. These programs and retreats would not be possible without the wonderful middle schoolers across our yearly meeting. Bringing a friend is always welcome!
The MSF Program is a space where middle school Friends can build community and explore life’s complexities in a safe, nurturing environment. Together, we’ll reflect on societal issues, practice living our Truth, and support one another in a changing world. We’ll meet at least monthly, with the content of our time together shaped in partnership between facilitators and participants.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, MSF was a thriving part of PYM’s youth programming. In the past year, Young Friends (high school-aged Friends) have successfully rebuilt their program and reconnected in community. Now is the perfect moment to revitalize MSF to meet the needs of those aging out of Children & Families but still seeking belonging in the youth community.
In 2025 so far, MSF has joined with Children & Families for meetups and overnights, with space for MSF-only activities. These gatherings have helped build relationships across age groups and worked well for families with children of different ages. Participants have ranged from ages 9 through 14, depending on comfort and interest in joining slightly older peers. This spring, MSF will have the opportunity to join Young Friends for a weekend retreat at Camp Swatara—offering a glimpse of what’s to come as Friends grow through PYM’s youth programs.
We are excited to work together to create a vibrant, welcoming, and inclusive MSF program. With your participation, we hope to nurture spiritual growth, deepen understanding of Quaker faith and practice, and build friendships that last.
