Throughout this year, meetings, worship groups, and other yearly meetings have been sharing minutes that arise from meeting for business.
These minutes express opposition to attacks and war on Iran, appreciation for the Quaker community, concern for maintaining God-given rights, and calls to reform unjust immigration enforcement practices and laws.
These minutes show how discernment moves through individual Friends and through spiritual communities. Quaker groups often take time during meeting for business or committee work to learn, reflect, and record a message together.
Whether a meeting is recognizing a Friend’s religious service, naming a shared concern for peace and justice, or commemorating someone’s life, the thoughts, commitments, and leadings of the meeting matter.
These minutes give witness to Quaker testimonies and inspire monthly and quarterly meetings to act.
If your meeting has recently approved a minute, especially one of concern, we encourage you to share it with the wider community. Meetings, committees, and Friend are welcome to send their minute to Philadelphia Yearly Meeting staff at communications@pym.org.
