SUMMARY:Young Adult Friends (Ages 18-35) Community's Summer Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Calling the Young Adult F/friends community (ages 18-35) on Saturday\, August 30\, from 10:00 a.m. till 8:00 p.m. at a Friend’s home in Mullica Hill\, New Jersey to celebrate the summer. Friends can stay overnight if they’d like\, and attend worship at Woodbury Friends Meeting on Sunday\, August 31. \nThis will be a time for fellowship\, worship sharing\, and community building.  Please bring swimming clothes if you’d like to swim in the Friend’s pool\, a sleeping bag if you’ll be staying overnight\, and any other medication and toiletries you’ll need if you’re staying overnight. \nThis will be an opportunity for us to gather and spend time together as the Summer season comes to a close and Young Adults find themselves gearing up for the busy Fall season. If you’re wanting to be in the company of F/friends\, to rest\, and to experience spiritual and social nourishment\, we hope you’ll be there! \nWe will have a potluck lunch: PLEASE bring something to share with the group. Dinner will be spaghetti. The cost for this event is $20. \n​​​​​​​We will do our best to accommodate dietary needs. Please bring additional food\, ingredients\, or snacks for yourselves to best meet your dietary restrictions. If attending this event is at all cost prohibitive\, please email inealshiraz@pym.org. \nCommunity Expectations: \nThe Young Adult F/friends community is a collaborative community where we share responsibility and work together to support each of our gatherings. This means\, each F/friend is expected to support making and setting up meals\, cleaning up dishes and shared areas\, collecting and disposing of trash\, organizing spaces and activities to their original layout\, and other such responsibilities. We welcome each F/friend contributing to the collective work of the Young Adult community in ways that feel comfortable and accessible. We share responsibility to align with our Quaker values of community and service\, and to ensure that the task of tending to our community is distributed fairly among F/friends. \nRegister Today! \nRegistration closes Wednesday\, August 27\, 2024.

DESCRIPTION:PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EVENING’S WORSHIP SHARING HAS BEEN CANCELED. THE YAF ONLINE WORSHIP SHARING SERIES IS ON PAUSE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING! \nCalling young adult F/friends and Seekers (ages 18-35) throughout the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting to join us for our monthly online worship sharing series the first Wednesday of every month\, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. ET.  \nRegister online to receive the Zoom link!\nThis is a chance for us to be in community together\, meet young adult F/friends and seekers that we are perhaps not always able to see because of distance\, and to deepen our relationship to worship and discernment. Please note\, we will be using the Worship Sharing guidelines resource document from Friends General Conference to ground our worship sharing together. This includes the following norms and expectations: \n\nReach as deeply as you can into the sacred center of your life.\nSpeak out of the silence\, and leave a period of silence between speakers.\nSpeak from your own experience\, about your own experience. Concentrate on\nfeelings and changes rather than on thoughts or theories.\nDo not respond to what anyone else has said\, either to praise or to refute.\nListen carefully and deeply to what is spoken.\nExpect to speak only once\, until everyone has had a chance to speak.\nRespect the confidentiality of what is shared.
