Philadelphia Yearly Meeting’s upcoming Fall Continuing Sessions begins with a Friday evening, November 5th program with music therapist Molly Hicks, and proceeds with meeting for worship and business the next day. On Saturday Deborah Cooper, a licensed professional counselor, will lead a mindfulness meditation program before lunch followed by an afternoon program of Meeting for Worship with Attention to Business. Sessions closes with an intergenerational program Sunday with the author and artist Anastasia Higginbotham, creator of the Ordinary Terrible Things series.
An invitation from PYM Co-Clerks
Dear Friends,
When is the last time you took part in a vibrant, Spirit-led faith community? This November, PYM Continuing Sessions offers you an opportunity to “Connect with Friends and meetings…so that we may experience vibrant, Spirit-led faith community.” Continuing Sessions offers you the chance to be part of creating that vibrant, Spirit-led faith community we want to experience.
We invite you to attend the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting’s Continuing Sessions on November 5,6 & 7, especially Meeting for Worship with Attention to Business on Saturday the 6th from 1-4pm. Register here.
November Continuing Sessions Meeting for Business will be on Zoom. But that doesn’t mean you have to attend by yourself. Who might you invite to attend from your Meeting or Quarter? Some Meetings are now enjoying the opportunity to meet and worship in person. Might you organize your Meeting to come together either at your Meeting House or at a member’s home to attend Continuing Sessions together? West Chester Friends Meeting experienced success with this way of building community for Annual Sessions.
In the Saturday afternoon Meeting for Worship with Attention to Business we will be coming together in fellowship to worship, to share, to learn and find inspiration in the work of the Yearly Meeting. Come worship with us and offer your understandings through worship sharing!
- The Sessions Co-ordinating Committee has created a theme we will use for this year: “Across the generations as we repair broken foundations, we become unified in beloved community”. How does this touch you and your Meeting? How can this theme inform our work and worship this year?
- We will continue to address the Yearly Meeting-wide Witness on the issue of Climate Change. Bring your joys, questions, and concerns. We will share what Meetings are already doing and learn about the work moving this witness forward.
- With what work have our Councils been engaged on our behalf? Find out, and find out how you might bring your gifts to support the work of the Spirit in your Yearly Meeting, Quarterly and Monthly Meeting.
- As you listen to reports and participate in break-out sessions, consider what you will want to share with your Meeting from what we have done during Continuing Sessions.
We are excited about being together during Continuing Sessions in just a few weeks! Please join us!
