Friends in our yearly meeting use a mix of tools to share information and stay in touch. Some of these tools help with conversations, some with finding meetings, and some with keeping contact details current. Together they give a picture of how community life continues between gatherings.
Friends have ways of staying connected outside of large gatherings. PYM Connect and PYM.org provide tools that make it possible to share updates, look up information, and find contact details. They are meant to help meetings and individuals keep in touch.
PYM Connect carries conversations, resources, and resources Friends share. It functions as an online place for sharing, and anyone who creates an account can read or add to it.
The PYM Connect directory is made from what Friends choose to share. When someone adds their meeting and contact details, it makes direct connection possible without needing to go through a clerk or staff. Each entry adds to the record of our community, helping Friends reach one another more easily.
On pym.org/meetings, Friends can find links to Quaker meetings. The section of the site includes worship times, addresses, and contact information that meetings maintain so it stays current.
These tools offer simple ways for Friends to remain connected. They do not replace the experience of gathering in person or over synchronous computer-mediated videoconferencing sessions, but they help carry the threads of community between those times, keeping meetings and individuals linked in the life of the yearly meeting.
