Young Friends Overnight at Peace Fair!

Welcome back from Summer Break! Our first Young Friends (grades 9 to 12) overnight of the 2023-24 year is in a couple of weeks, taking place at the at the Annual Peace Fair at Buckingham Meeting/Buckingham Friends School in Lahaska, PA! This is an opportunity to get some service hours in for school, and to have fellowship with other Young Friends and the wider Quaker community!
The Peace Fair features local crafts, artwork, traditional and vegetarian food, kids’ games, a dunk tank, and Bucks County area non-profits that focus on peace, community service, healthy living, and the environment.
Young Friends will arrive in the morning at 8:00 AM on Saturday, September 30th and serve as stagehands for the Peace Fair, helping with set-up, tasks during the fair, and clean-up. We’ll help vendors get unloaded and set up before the start of the Fair. During the hours of the Fair, Young Friends will do a variety of tasks, including running kids’ games and helping with food preparation and service. At the close of the Fair, Young Friends will help vendors pack tables and tents away, to reset the space for the host Meeting.
Following the clean-up of the Fair, Young Friends will gather for a pizza party and overnight at Buckingham Meeting. We’ll sleep at the Meeting, and share in community building, conversation, worship, and fun with other Young Friends!
The overnight will end on Sunday morning, October 1st, at 11:30 AM, following Meeting for Worship with Buckingham Friends. Bring a friend!
Cost for the overnight is $30. Young Friends will receive a food coupon for lunch at the fair, as well as $10 in spending money. There is scholarship money available that is earmarked for PYM youth, so please do not let cost keep you away!
