Quakers and Christmas- A Historical and Contemporary Retrospective

In this presentation, Dan Zemaitis will explore the historical relationship Quakerism had with the Christmas season, as well as contemporary Quaker practices, individual and corporate, related to Christmas’ celebration.
Dan is a member of Moorestown Monthly Meeting. He graduated from Moorestown Friends School, Haverford College (B.A. in History) and holds a PhD in Religion and Theology from the Quaker Studies department at the University of Birmingham, UK. He currently teaches Comparative Religion at Rowan College of Burlington County and is the secretary at Central Philadelphia Monthly Meeting. He has a wife, Kelly, and a 2 and a half year old son named William.
