Friends Conference on Religion and Psychology
March 18 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
$305 – $625The Friends Conference on Religion and Psychology, now in its 81st year, will hold its annual conference at Pendle Hill over Memorial Day weekend, May 26 to 28, 2023. FCRP began in the shadows of the second World War when a group of Quaker women came to see how in-depth psychology, particularly that of C. G. Jung which explores the inner life, could foster the Inner Light.
This year’s plenary topic is: BODYDREAMING: Self-Regulation, Jung, and Neuroscience in Trauma Recovery. Dreams in Jungian psychology can direct us on paths of new growth—much like messages that come through the silence in worship. Plenary speaker, the Jungian analyst Marian Dunlea, will explore the theory and practice of the slow process of re-programming the nervous system after trauma. Her technique which she calls, BodyDreaming, draws on modern neuroscience and uses imagery and mind-body exercises to support a gentle path to trauma recovery.
