Child Safety and Mandated Reporter Training
October 24 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Training for Mandated Reporters of Child Abuse
“To create and sustain safe, loving Meeting communities, we must nurture the spiritual lives and community of our young Friends. This nurturing requires the work, energy and deep dedication of many adults, both paid and volunteer. It also requires a safe environment.” – PYM Child Abuse Prevention Handbook, 2015
Questions about child safety policies and practices are frequently raised by Friends, and this program is offered to support volunteers and paid staff with care of children and youth in our meetings. (Note: In Pennsylvania, volunteers and paid staff who work directly with children are considered mandated reporters under state law.)
On Saturday, October 24, we’ll gather for an online mandated reporter training with the PA Family Support Alliance. The training includes information on recognizing and reporting child abuse. Please register using the form below.
*Note: We had planned for the in-person event to include a discussion about child safety in local meetings facilitated by PYM Staff. This will happen as a second, separate event, date to be determined. At that time, we’ll share PYM resources on policies and practices, and invite discussion and questions from participants on safety practices in Meetings, including online spaces.
