Are you a meeting attender or member? Does our decision making process confound or sometimes frustrate you? Do you wonder how spirit fits into new bench cushions, a graveyard wall repair or the rental of one of our buildings? Why can’t we just vote? What’s the difference between sense of the meeting and consensus…we do not make decisions by consensus by the way.
If you answered, “yes” to any of those questions then this workshop is for you. Bucks Quarterly Meeting is pleased to present a workshop led by Arthur Larrabee. This workshop is specifically designed for those in the body in order to understand our process.
Some of the things we will explore are the theoretical and practical aspects of Friends decision-making, advantages of the process, sense-of-the-meeting, standing aside, unity, what happens when unity is elusive, the role of those present, the role of the clerk and dysfunctions found in the use of the process.
Arthur Larrabee is member and former Clerk of Central Philadelphia Monthly Meeting, former General Secretary and former Clerk for Philadelphia Yearly Meeting. Ask anyone who has been to one of his workshops at Pendle Hill and they will tell you that you should not miss this opportunity.
You are welcome to join Buckingham Friends in worship at 10:30/singing begins at 10:15. There is always a pot luck lunch at the rise of meeting. Bring a dish to share if you will be joining Friends for lunch.
