These are the psychotherapists in the Friends Counseling Service.\u00a0 All are active in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting. Friends are encouraged to contact several counselors and talk with them briefly and pick the one with whom one resonates best.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Terence Carroll, LCSW, Philadelphia, PA \u2014<\/strong>Terence Carroll is a licensed clinical social worker who has been providing and supervising individual, family, and group therapy for more than 30 years. He has particular experience and interest in working with adolescents and young adults.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Deborah Cooper, MEd, Germantown, PA \u2014<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>A licensed counselor and family therapist, Deborah Cooper has been in practice as a therapist since 1984. She enjoys working with families as well as adults of all ages, both individually and as a couple. Her therapeutic experience includes working with people experiencing a wide range of personal or family issues including chronic illness or the impending death of themselves or those they love. A convinced Friend, Deborah works to help each person realize their potential and to listen to their inner voice, empowering each person to find solutions that are right for them. She teaches mindfulness meditation to groups and individuals.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Elizabeth Hartzell, Ph.D., Philadelphia, PA\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014\u00a0<\/strong>Elizabeth Hartzell is Clinical Assistant Professor and Assistant Director of Art Therapy Education in Hahnemann\u2019s Creative Arts in Therapy Program at Drexel University. She has been a practicing clinician for thirty years, clinical supervisor, administrator of mental health programs, and educator in addition to presenting and conducting workshops on a range of clinical issues. Her master\u2019s degree is in Art Therapy, and her doctoral degree is in Clinical Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Danielle Havelin, LCSW<\/strong>,\u00a0Havertown, PA<\/strong> (not currently taking new clients) <\/strong>\u2014 Danielle Havelin is a seasoned clinician and administrator with over 17 years experience in the field working with diverse populations in a variety of community mental health and school-based settings. She enjoys collaborating with people throughout the life span and believes all people walk in the door with the inner wisdom and strengths to overcome their life challenges. Danielle incorporates mindfulness strategies along with other therapeutic modalities to help clients manage a variety of emotions, strengthen their relationships with others and bring balance and peace to every day life.\u00a0 Her office is located in the Havertown PA area.<\/p>\n

Ashley Slaff, LMFT, CPS, Abington, PA \u2014<\/strong> Ashley Slaff is a licensed marriage and family therapist and certified peer specialist who utilizes affirming and inclusive approaches and trauma-informed practices to support people of all ages in cultivating well-being and coping with life’s challenges. For Ashley, joy comes from learning through connection and collaboration, practicing discernment, and exploring natural landscapes \u2014 often with one or two scruffy pups in tow.<\/p>\n

Selection of Counselors \u2014<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>It is our goal to have counselors available to Friends throughout the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting area although most current counselors are located in the Philadelphia five-county area. Friends may have concerns that cover a variety of issues and lifestyles, so we have counselors with a wide range of specialties and interests.
