The Wisdom to Survive

If we believe in and respond to that of God in every human being and in all of creation, then human caused climate change is not just a scientific issue but a moral and spiritual one, because global warming threatens the balance that all life on Earth depends on for survival.  When I attended a showing of the documentary “The Wisdom to Survive: Climate Change, Capitalism & Community” last fall at Medford Leas, I was so moved by its spiritual message that I felt called to show the film to other Friends.  I arranged a showing at Medford Monthly Meeting, which has led to an ongoing discussion about what individuals and Meetings can do to address climate change.  With the support of Friends in the Eco Justice Working Group, I have made copies of the film available to the Yearly Meeting library and am exploring ways to arrange for wider showings of the documentary.  Recently Bullfrog Films, the distributor of the documentary, sent me postcards, fliers and other materials to use in publicizing a showing, as well as a contact for ordering copies of the film at activitist rates, which would allow unlimited free-admission showings. If you are interested in seeing the documentary, let me know.  You can see a review of The Wisdom to Survive in the January 2015 issue of Friends Journal.
