Welcome to the Middle School Friends Website- the place you can find out who we are, what we do together and how you and your children can get involved! Our Mission Middle School Friends welcomes young people in 6th to 8th grades and ages 11-13 (please call to discuss exceptions) and parent and high school volunteers to gather as a spiritual community to deepen in the understanding of the faith and practice of Quakerism, grow in the Light, have plenty of fun together About Our ProgramWe have weekend gatherings 7 times during the school year at Monthly Meetings all over the Yearly Meeting (this year for instance we have been to Princeton Meeting, Exeter Meeting, the Burlington Conference Center, Radnor Meeting, West Philadelphia). Here are some upcoming events to look forward to this year. During a gathering we do things in big groups like playing games, singing, having Meeting for worship, going hiking. We also spend time in small groups helping cook and clean up from meals, doing worship sharing and doing service projects. There is also "free time" when friends play, listen to music, do craft projects and hang out. Themes of our weekend programs have included: hand-built life/simplicity; the highest mountain-living with disabilities; the light in everyone-Quakerism; funny bones-humor/juggling/healing through laughter; shelter for all- homelessness; one world peace gathering. Even If you don't know anyone when you walk through the door, you will leave with new friends. To help shape and evaluate the program we invite all interested Middle School Friends, parents and friends to come to the Middle School Friends Working Group meetings.
