Speakers for your Meeting

List Maintained by Adult Religious Education of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting. Please send comments, corrections, and updates to Gene Hillman or call him at 215-241-7182.

This is a list of Friends who have offered to speak to Meetings or other duly constituted groups on various Quaker topics. They may be contacted directly in this regard. This list originally appeared in the 2003 edition of the Traveling Teachers and Retreat Leaders List (TTRLL). Topics added since that went to print (2/2003) will be in red. Joan Broadfield, Peace and Concerns Staff, maintains a separate list of speakers to speak on issues of our peace witness. She can be reached at 215-241-7240 or joanb@pym.org

Topics added since the print edition came out in March 2003 are highlighted in yellow.

As a matter of guidance, most Meetings will provide an honorarium ($50.00 is usual for a one hour talk) and or travel expenses to speakers. If travel is agreed upon, Yearly Meeting reimburses at the IRS rate of 36 cents a mile (in 2003). Some speakers will refuse payment in view of our testimony against a hireling ministry. Others see Matthew 10:8-10 as allowing some payment "for food."
