Map to State College Meeting

State College Meeting, with around 300 members is one of the larger meetings in the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting. The meeting house is at the east end of Prospect Avenue and may be reached from either College Avenue or Business 322 by the University Drive bypass around the east side of State College. Look for 611 East Prospect Avenue. Prospect crosses Pugh, and Garner Streets. .

By long custom, State College Friends always sing after meeting and often have a potluck lunch or special breakfast on Sunday, The commodious State College meeting house, with a large social room looking toward Nittany Mountain, and a separate school building, was completed in 1980. It replaces a much smaller building which had been provided in 1926 as an outreach to Quaker students at Penn State; the new meeting room imitates the old one quite closely with its end fireplace and hollow square of benches but is twice as big. Even so this room is often full on Sunday.

With so many members, State College is able to offer a range of opportunities for its participants, from religious studies to service activities, as well as a lively Sunday School series.

The large meeting house enabled the State College Friends School to make a strong start. Now the school is moving into in new buildings south of the Foxdale Retirement Village which was also initiated by members of this meeting.
