Spiritual Life Program—10:30 a.m. at Arch Street Meeting

That of God shines within each of us. Every moment, everywhere we are. Saturday morning and afternoon of this weekend program we will become EveryDay Detectives. We will spy out signs of the presence of the Light within us and ways in which we can walk in that Light, wherever we may be. Adults and children will detect while playing, working, worshiping, singing, cooking, eating and creating together. Everything we do will be every-day activities, but we will do them in the Glory of the Light! Come join us!

Lunch will be provided at Arch Street. We will work and play together until 4:00, then walk to a local food court for dinner. Please bring money to cover the cost of dinner. We estimate $7-10 per person. After dinner we will drive to the Franklin Institute for the camp-in. Parking is available in the electronically-monitored garage under The Franklin Institute. The Camp-In discount rate of $7.50 applies from 5 p.m. until noon the following day.

Christie Duncan-Tessmer has worked with children and their Quaker communities for 10 years in a variety of contexts including Meetings, schools, retreats and workshops. She currently serves as the Children’s Religious Education Coordinator for PYM. Christie describes the unifying factor of her work as making space for experiencing the Divine in communities that include children.

For more specific information regarding the day’s program, please feel free to call Marie Ryan, Stacey Schanno or Wade Wright, PYM regional staff.

The Franklin Institute program 7pm until noon the next day, overnight

The Electricity Show: The Franklin Institute’s new electrical spectacular will electrify the spirit of Ben Franklin as visitors experience the amazing power of electricity in this live, interactive, high-voltage show. Watch giant lightning bolts dance across the stage and reenact Ben’s hair-raising sentry box experiment. Witness lightning close up, catch sparks through the air, and join in the quest for knowledge about electricity in our lives.

Electricity Agents: Campers will be lead by ‘sparking’ staff to investigate electrical ideas and devices. From energy to equipment, this expertise will enable campers to discover the clues that will unlock The Electrifying Mystery.

Feature Film in the Tuttleman IMAX Theater: Our giant-screen theater makes campers feel as if they were right in the action! Enjoy unobscured views. A 170-degree, four-an-a-half story domed screen surrounds our comfortable stadium seating. Add the magnificent sound of 56 directional speakers, and you are set for the ultimate movie-going experience. It’s the best way to spend those last bursts of energy before campers bed-down in one of our amazing exhibits!

BIG! In the Fels Planetarium: In the morning, it’s off to explore the Universe. How big is it? Journey to the farthest observable reaches of the Universe to find out. Seen by over 400,000 visitors to England’s National Space Centre, BIG combines a lighthearted storytelling style with computer animation, claymation, and a surround sound musical score to bring a really big subject down to Earth.
