Quaker Quest is an dynamic new approach to outreach that has been in existance for seven years in Britain Yearly Meeting. It has brought seekers to Meetings all over England, and is being organized in the U.S. by FGC and in our Yearly Meeting. In essence, QQ is a series of public open meetings on Quaker topics which are presented in repeated cycles. The sessions follow a lively format which engages seekers intently for two hours. During each session three Friends speak briefly from the heart and their own experience about the evening's topic. Seekers then divide into small groups each facilitated by a Friend who makes certain that everyone has a chance to share. The three presenters then offer a second, shorter set of talks. A question and answer period follows. The program closes with a 30-minutue Meeting for Worship.
PYM has formed a working group to train Meetings in offering this program. Harry and Lois Forrest of Medford Meeting are the co-clerks. They are available and willing to come to USQM any time between the dates of June 28 and August 24. Our Quarterly Meeting staff person, Wade Wright is interested in organizing a workhsop of introduction to Quaker Quest, if any of our Meetings are interested in learning more about it. Perhaps the Quarter could unite in supporting any Meeting who would like to try this program.
