After the presentation at YM sessions and distribution of materials, there were inquiries from Meetings, and dialogue back and forth between Meetings and the Working Group. The members of this Working Group are ready to visit interested Meetings to discuss the project.
Meetings that apply must be willing to have their members participate in a survey similar to the one we used in the research process. This will give us a profile of the Meeting, and give the Meeting useful information on itself. The information about themselves will be shared with all those Meetings that apply and wish to see those results whether they are selected for the pilot phase or not.
Meetings applying must have a minute from their meeting for business endorsing the project, and naming a Meeting member as the project contact and some group in the Meeting could be an existing committee, or a new group to take responsibility for shepherding the project.
Any Meeting applying needs to provide membership data for the previous ten years, and anonymous data on giving (how many give, total support) for that same period.
Each Meeting applying should be prepared to commit some amount of money in their budget for support of the project. (It may not be much if the Meetings resources are really small, but there needs to be a concrete commitment of their own resources to this work.)
The application should include a description of what a Meeting has done in recent years (if anything) to try to reach and integrate new people, and what it sees as its potential for growth.
This information will help the Working Group select the Meetings to include in the pilot phase. The intent is to involve a group of Meetings somewhat diverse in character, but each with enough strength and commitment to change and growth to have chance to succeed.
