Age-level leaders and volunteer assistants will be coming from throughout the Yearly Meeting to lead activities with the children on the theme of Losses and Healing and to provide a safe, enjoyable, spiritually enriching experience. Activities will include stories, games, songs, discussions, arts and crafts. Many First-Day Schools are working on a Losses and Healing curriculum in advance of Yearly Meeting Sessions. Banners hanging in the dining room at Arch Street Meeting House will illustrate this.
Registration is due by March 12. Children from infancy through 5th grade and "Day-Tripping" Middle-Schoolers planning to attend any or all sessions from Thursday morning through Sunday must register in advance by submitting a completed Permission/Pre-registration form to Mary Anne Crowley, PYM, 1515 Cherry St., Philadelphia, PA 19102. Parents are encouraged to volunteer their help for one morning, afternoon or evening of Children's Program. Please indicate your availability on the Permission/Pre-registration form.
Middle School Friends (grades 6-8) may pre-register for a special overnight program at Friends Center. Watch for a flyer in the mail or contact Melanie Douty at 215-241-7171, melanied@pym.org.
Young Friends (grades 9-12) may pre-register for a special overnight program at Burlington Conference Center. Watch for a flyer in the mail or contact Cookie Caldwell at 215-241-7222, cookiec@pym.org.
Important Information for Parents, Guardians & Sponsors
- You may drop off your child up to 15 minutes prior to the beginning of adult sessions. You are expected to pick up your child no later than 15 minutes after the scheduled close of adult sessions.
- You are required to sign in your child at drop-off and sign out your child at pick-up so that Program Leaders know
- who to contact in case of emergency,
- where to find you, and
- in whose care to release your child.
- There are so many activities for children during Yearly Meeting that children can get overly tired. Please schedule in rest time for your child during lunch or during some of the sessions.
- Children will be in your care during meals, unscheduled times and overnight (when there is no Children's Program or if you decide to keep your child out of scheduled programs.) This also applies to Middle School Friends and Young Friends who are not pre-registered for the special overnight programs.
- Please remember the special hazards associated with a high-traffic city location. For their own safety, children should not leave Arch Street Meeting House without adult supervision.
If you have any questions, please contact Brenda Rose Simkin at 215-241-7075, brendar@pym.org, or Marty Smith at 215-241-7008, martys@pym.org.
