Salem Quarter Friends ~ Young & Young at Heart

A new group is forming!
We invite the youth of Salem Quarter to join us
and participate in service projects and other events.

Service projects are designed for students in Grades K through 12. Other Quarter events are open to families and Friends of all ages. Leadership and program coordination roles are available for Middle & High School Friends.

Purpose:

To provide an opportunity for Salem Quarter Youth to meet regularly, make friends and through the community and service projects, connect to Quaker faith and practices, especially those of service and social responsibility.



Schedule:

Friday, August 4, 2006
Meet and Greet Potluck
Woodstown Meetinghouse, 6-9 PM

Committee Planning Meeting: 7/7/06 Woodstown MH (interested parents and MS/HS students are welcome).
Service: Bring a veggie treat from your garden (or favorite farmstand) to donate to a soup kitchen.
Activities: Dinner (each family brings an entrée, salad or dessert), followed by a peace vigil, dessert, & games.

Make Biscuits for the Dog Pound
Salem Meetinghouse, 6-9 PM

Committee Planning Meeting: To be announced.
Service: Measure, mix, bake dog biscuits and create a colorful box to deliver the biscuits to a local animal shelter.

Make Cards for Woodstown Friends Village Residents
Mickleton Meetinghouse, 6-9 PM

Committee Planning Meeting: To be announced.
Service: Create valentines (or birthday cards) for residents of Friends Village.

Make Soup/Meal for a Local Soup Kitchen
Woodstown Meetinghouse, 6-9 PM

Committee Planning Meeting: To Be Announced.
Service: Prepare the ingredients, cook the meal; and create messages of cheer to send along with the meal.

Tri-Quarter Gathering
Theme "Faith in the Moment: Building Tomorrow Together!"

Tri-Quarter gathering at Camp Ockanickon will offer inspiring workshops and many fun activities such as guided stargazing at an observatory with an astronomy expert, hayrides, ice cream social, square dance with live band/caller, nature hikes, ropes challenge course, canoeing – for all ages – some together and some apart! Leadership opportunities for High Schoolers are available.
