In Meeting for Business on 27 May 2007, we decided to try out a new method for assigning the responsibility for bringing refreshments and flowers on First-days. The idea, brought forward by Bill Carrigan, is that three or four families/individuals will be assigned a weekend per month. On that First-day, one of the assigned should bring refreshments and flowers. The labor of deciding whose turn it is, however, would rest with the designees for that weekend. An easy default is to proceed in the order listed below (alphabetically), repeating once everyone has participated. Be warned, however, that vacations business trips, and other conflicts will inevitably disrupt such a smooth system. In any event, it is hoped that each designee under this system would bring food and refreshment once every three or four months. If you have difficulty arranging refreshments within your group or if things change at the last minute, please contact Bill, who will make alternative arrangements.
We do not such a formal system for childcare and First-day School teaching; however, we encourage everyone to share the enjoyment bringing along our next generation of Mickleton Friends. Contact Bill to pick your dates.
