Mickleton Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends sponsors a high-school essay contest named for a member who was devoted to foster the cause of peace in our area high schools. In 2004, we welcomed Mullica Hill Monthly Meeting as co-sponsor of the essay project.
The winning entrant receives a modest cash award and an invitation to read his or her essay at the Meeting, as well as having the essay posted at the Mickleton Meeting website.

About Helen Glass
Helen Glass, a member of Mickleton Meeting, was a long-time advocate of peace and racial justice. She often appeared at high schools in South Jersey to dicsuss the military draft. For ten years, she ran a summer camp for boys from the inner city. She frequently sewed clothes for people in need and, in one year, made 116 children's coats for distribution by the American Friends Service Committee. The essay project honors her spirit and commitment to peace.
