- Salem Quarter Friends ~ Young & Young at Heart Service projects for students in Grades K through 12, plus other events open to families and Friends of all ages. Leadership roles are available for Middle & High School Friends.

These are only some of the things that will happen in Salem Quarter and Philadelphia Yearly Meeting over the coming few months. The dates and details for others aren't set yet. Look for the Quarterly Meeting Calendar, sent every month to your Meeting's Steering Committee members, for listings of other events.
Sat, 1 Mar Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Prayer Circle. The prayer circle will be held at the tribal center in Fairton, N.J., from 11:30 am through about 2:00 pm. Bring a covered dish for shared lunch! Mermaid Lane, Philadelphia, for extended worship in the morning followed by afternoon worship sharing. Child care available with two weeks notice. Salem Quarterly Meetings Worship & Ministry Committee gathers at the home of Bob and Gloria Horvay. The meeting will start at 7:30 pm. Salem Quarter will meet at Woodstown MM, gathering at 9:00 am for 9:30 program. Esther Mürer, Quaker writer and composer, will speak on Friends changing attitudes toward the arts. For full schedule, see the current issue of Salem Quarter News. Fri, 28 Mar Sat, 29 Mar Philadelphia Yearly Meeting sessions. Yearly meeting sessions will convene at the Arch Street Meeting House. This years March sessions will focus on peace initiatives, including the upcoming ecumenical peace conference. Further information will be mailed or may be found on the PYM Website, www.pym.org. Fri, 4 Apr Peace vigil, speaker at Woodstown. Woodstown MM hosts a peace vigil at 5:30 pm, followed by covered dish supper and speaker. Bob Moore, executive director of the Coalition for Peace Action of northern New Jersey, will talk on making peace the issue for the presidential elections. The annual auction to benefit Friends School Mullica Hill will be held at Aulettos, Deptford, N.J., starting at 6:00 pm. The FGC workshop on Godly Play, a method of facilitating childrens First-day School, is tentatively scheduled for this date. It will be held under the care of Seaville and Atlantic City Area MMs and Salem Quarter. Further information will be announced as it becomes available. Sat, 17 May Gathering for Worship, Ministry & Eldering. Friends will meet at York MM, 135 W. Philadelphia St., York, Pa., for extended worship in the morning followed by afternoon worship sharing. Minute in Support of the Million Mom March
approved by Salem Quarterly Meeting in session, 12 March 2000- Salem Quarterly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, unites in support of the Million Mom March to be held on Mothers Day, 14 May 2000, calling for effective handgun control legislation. We affirm our intent to help members and attenders of our seven monthly meetings become aware of this event and its purposes and to participate in it. We invite other Quaker bodies to join with us in this support.

The Friends School at Mullica Hill is not formally under the care of Salem Quarter or any of its monthly meetings. Nonetheless, the Quarter and the School enjoy a cooperative and mutually supportive relationship.
