Events in Salem Quarter
These are only some of the things that will happen in Salem Quarter and Philadelphia Yearly Meeting over the coming few months. The dates and details for others aren't set yet. Look for the Quarterly Meeting Calendar, sent every month to your Meeting's Steering Committee members, for listings of other events.
Sat, 30 May Woodstown Strawberry Festival. Servings at 4:00, 5:00, and 6:00 pm. Cost is $14 for adults, $6 for children under twelve; all takeouts are $14. The Unitarian- Universalist (UU) Congregation will host a teach-in on Afghanistan and Pakistan at 7:00 pm, with light refreshments at 6:30, at their building on Pomona Road, across from the Stockton dorms. Coalition for Peace & Justice and Atlantic City Area Friends Meeting are cosponsoring. Professors Reza Ghaorshi and Rob Nichols will speak. Nichols will have just returned from a trip to Pakistan. Sun, 7 June Mickleton MM program on Mongolia. Based on a Fulbright Scholars Award, Carolyn Tice will share her experience through pictures and a narrative. The program places a special emphasis on Mongolias developing social service system, with a focus on child welfare and rural communities. Fri, 12 June Salem Quarter Worship & Ministry. Salem Quarterly Meetings Worship & Ministry Committee gathers at the home of Bob and Gloria Horvay in Mullica Hill. The meeting will start at 7:30 pm. Salem Quarter will meet at Mullica Hill MM, gathering at 9:30 am for 10:00 worship and program at 11:00. Karen Barlow and Liz Shay of Seaville MM will speak about how CSA and the meetings own Peace Garden has brought the meeting community together. At brown-bag lunch, Mickleton and Mullica Hill MMs will provide beverages and dessert. See Salem Quarter News for the schedule. The eighth grade celebratory meeting for worship will be held at Mullica Hill MM starting at 5:30 pm. All are welcome. Sun, 14 June Friends School graduation. Eighth grade graduation from Friends School will be held on the schools grounds, adjacent to Mullica Hill MM, at 7:00 pm. For information, call the school at (856)478-2908. Wed, 29 July Sun, 3 Aug PYM Summer Sessions. Philadelphia holds summer Sun, 8/2 sessions at DeSales University, Allentown, Pa. Minute in Support of the Million Mom March
approved by Salem Quarterly Meeting in session, 12 March 2000- Salem Quarterly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, unites in support of the Million Mom March to be held on Mothers Day, 14 May 2000, calling for effective handgun control legislation. We affirm our intent to help members and attenders of our seven monthly meetings become aware of this event and its purposes and to participate in it. We invite other Quaker bodies to join with us in this support.

The Friends School at Mullica Hill is not formally under the care of Salem Quarter or any of its monthly meetings. Nonetheless, the Quarter and the School enjoy a cooperative and mutually supportive relationship.
