Center
for Deepening and Strengthening Our Meetings |
|
A program
to nurture and support the life of our meetings.
A project of Worship and Care Standing Committee of the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting |
General Information
The project formerly known as Deepening and Strenthening Our Meetings as Faith Communities now has a new name -- Center for Deepening & Strengthening Our Meetings -- and a new component -- Strenghtening Our Meeting Community.
The Center offers two projects.
1) Knowing Our Self as a Meeting: The goal of this program is to help meetings examine themselves as faith communities in order to better understand how to strengthen the life of their monthly meeting in three specific areas: their spiritual life, community and the business of the meeting.
A facilitator works with the meeting and guides it through a process of discernment and goal setting. (From January 2001 through February 2004, twelve monthly meetings had completed the process. As of February 2004, another nine meetings had had substantive work on the process.)
2) Strengthening Our Meeting Community: A meeting commits
1) to have people active in the life of the meeting participate in a centrally located series of retreats and
2) to engage as a meeting in “homework” assignments brought back by those at the retreats.
