Friends Fiduciary Corporation will be holding several gatherings in September and October to help Monthly Meetings inform members and attenders of the benefits of planned gifts, such as charitable gift annuities. The benefits extend to both the donors and the Meetings!
Friends Fiduciary has already received over $1 million in gifts and issued over 60 charitable gift annuities. These gifts ultimately benefit PYM, Meetings, schools and other Quaker organizations. A donor, depending on the size of the annuity, could ask that the residuum of their gift go to more than one organization, perhaps their Meeting and PYM.
In August, Meetings were sent a letter a schedule of these information sessions. Friends are encouraged to attend whichever session is most convenient:
- Sunday, September 7, Haddonfield Meeting (NJ), 2-4 PM
- Saturday, September 13, Arch Street Meeting House, Philadelphia, 10 AM – 12 Noon
- Sunday, September 14, Buckingham Meeting (PA), 2-4 PM
- Sunday, September 28, Gwynedd Meeting (PA), 2-4 PM
- Sunday, October 12, The Farmhouse at Kendal at Longwood (PA), 2-4 PM
- Sunday, October 19, Lancaster Meeting (PA), 2-4 PM
Samples of articles that could be included in Meeting newsletters, brochures that can be put out with other Meeting literature, and other information on Friends Fiduciary’s Planned Giving Program will be provided. There also will be discussion explaining the different types of planned gifts, charitable deductions, annuity rates, etc.
We encourage attendance by Meeting Treasurers, Finance Committee members and other members interested in encouraging gifts to their Meetings. A larger planned giving conference intended for Friends schools, retirement facilities and other Quaker organizations will be held on Tuesday, October 14, at the Arch Street Meeting House.
