Spiritual Formation Program
The Spiritual Formation Program of PYM extends a warm invitation to all who want to deepen their spiritual life. Friends and attenders from our monthly meetings will gather for the opening retreat October 3–5 and begin their commitment to a nine-month period of reflection, study and prayer in supportive community, ending with the closing retreat June 18–20, 2004. The Transforming Power of the Psalms
Betsy Meyer of Sandy Spring Meeting (MD) will present a lecture on the Psalms on Sunday afternoon, November 16, at Rancocas Meeting, 201 Main Street, Rancocas, New Jersey. Registration begins at 2:00 p.m. Betsy has followed a leading to immerse herself in the Psalms and has nearly memorized the entire Psalter.
The lecture is co-sponsored by the Bible Association of Friends in America, Burlington Quarterly Meeting, and the Adult Religious Education Working Group of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting. Fall Scripture Study Courses
An evening course on the Book of Genesis will be offered at Friends Center in Philadelphia every other Wednesday, 7:00-9:00 p.m., for six sessions beginning September 10. In addition, a weekly course on the Psalms will be offered at Pendle Hill 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sundays, with the first term from October 12 to November 30. The teacher for both courses is Tony Prete, whose ministry to teach Scripture is supported by the PYM Adult Religious Education Concerns Group, and his own Meeting, Central Philadelphia.
