For the third year, PYM's Nonviolence and Children Working Group is offering training in "Conflict Resolution and Community Building for Elementary School Educators." This two-day training, underwritten by a grant from PYM, is a practical, experiential workshop for teachers who want to make their classroom a more peaceful place. Previous participants have shared that the training was "inspiring" and "extremely useful."
This year the training will be held on Friday, August 8, and Saturday, August 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Act 48 credits will be offered. Lunch and materials are included. To register, call Nonviolence and Children staff person Betsy Berger at 215-241-7233.
In the coming year, Nonviolence and Children Working Group will continue to offer workshops and training to Meetings and Friends schools. Although the staff position will be eliminated after July 1, due to PYM budget cuts, the Working Group will continue to function. The Religious Education Program Coordinator will be offering administrative support to this group of volunteers.
