Peace & Justice Coordinator
Philadelphia Yearly Meeting
This person's primary responsibilities will be to assist Monthly and Quarterly Meetings and Yearly Meeting working groups to advance Friends' Testimonies for peace and the social order. This work will most often be shaped by our commitment to be responsive to the Meetings' interests and initiative. In addition, however, she or he will support the new "Peace Well Initiative," which was approved by Interim Meeting in June 2002, and support the work of the Conscience, Militarism and War Tax Concerns Working Group in informing Monthly Meetings and their members about issues relating to conscientious objection to military service and the payment of war taxes, and to the increasing militarism of the United States.
This is a full-time position, which will also involve considerable travel (on evenings and weekends) to work with Meetings. Even so, this person will be expected to work in our offices in Philadelphia at least three days a week (as a rule).
Salary in the mid-$30,000's. Applicants must be active members of our Religious Society. Start date September 1.
Applications must be received by June 30. Contact Joan Broadfield at peace@pym.org or 215-241-7230.
