Merion Meeting (PA) has completed its first year of showing videos on Quaker-related subjects as an educational and outreach project. Videos are shown on the first Sunday of each month at the rise of meeting for worship (12:00 noon) in the meetinghouse at 615 Montgomery Avenue in Merion, Pennsylvania. Videos are borrowed from the PYM Library on topics ranging from George Fox to the American Friends Service Committee. They vary in length between 12 and 30 minutes.
The idea to offer Quaker videos grew out of Worship and Ministrys concern for outreach and education, and has been organized by Adam Guss. The results are positive and have created an intergenerational community of shared ideas and experiences. For schedule details and directions, visit Merions web site at www.pym.org/haverford-qm/merion.htm or phone the meetinghouse at 610-664-4210.
If you would like to start a video screening project in your Meeting, visit the PYM Library web site at www.pym.org/library to see a list of Quaker videos available. Click on Index of Booklists and find Audiovisuals: Quaker List. Or click on search catalog to browse the entire collection. Call Esther Darlington in the PYM Library at 215-241-7220 to arrange to have videos sent to you.
