The Fair Hill Burial Ground has added a new volunteer activity to its usual workday chores: gravestone identification. The group has begun to identify headstones which had been moved and return them to their rightful spaces. Volunteer teams are needed to gently scrub the stones down, identify the markings and move them to the designated spots. Supplies will be provided.
A morning volunteering at the Friends burial ground in North Philadelphia makes an excellent group activity for a Meeting, First-day School class or Friends school class. The Fair Hill Burial Ground Corporation is also looking for new board membership, particularly in the areas of development, community activities and event planning.
