An inter-Yearly Meeting workshop on inreach, outreach and local Meeting advancement will take place November 22-24 at the Powell House conference center near Albany, New York. Explore connections between spiritual life, community, communication, witness, and Meeting growth while also learning nuts and bolts advancement techniques. Learn how to work with your Meeting to create a sound advancement plan.
Questions to be addressed include:
- What paths to growth have other Meetings found?
- In what ways can social witness play a role in Meeting growth?
- What are some of the ways a Meeting can gain visibility on a limited budget?
- How can Meetings make themselves more welcoming to People of Color?
The Open the Door, Light the Light! workshop is co-sponsored by the Friends General Conference Advancement and Outreach Committee and the New York Yearly Meeting Advancement Committee. The workshop facilitators will be the clerks of those two committees, Deborah Haines and Jane Berger, respectively. Deborah, a member of Swarthmore Meeting (PA), gave a short workshop on the same theme at Philadelphia Yearly Meeting on March 21.
Cost for the weekend is $160 including meals and accommodations. For information and registration, call Powell House at 518-794-8811, e-mail info@powellhouse.org or visit www.powellhouse.org.
