After 11 years of remarkable service as PYM’s director of religious education, Martha (Marty) Smith of Moorestown Meeting (NJ) is leaving the staff of Yearly Meeting. Marty has taken a visiting instructor position on the education faculty at St. Joseph’s University. Her master’s degree is in teacher education, and she had been exploring opportunities to return to the field.
Marty will be greatly missed as a key contributor to the work of the PYM staff and the vitality of many of our Meetings. Her work with First-day School programs and teachers around the Yearly Meeting has been enormously helpful and deeply appreciated. In addition, she has helped organize and oversee wonderful children’s programs at Annual Sessions. These have been a source of joy and spiritual growth for many of our children. Her presence in the office as a supportive supervisor, gracious colleague and good friend will be missed by many staff and volunteers. We wish her all the best in her new pursuits.
