heresa Fitzgibbon left the Yearly Meeting staff after her assignment to more than a decade of working for peace ended in June. Her position was an outgrowth of five years of voluntary service to the former Peace Committee. Most recently, among her assignments, she served as faithful staff to the Abolish Nuclear Weapons Working Group.
Those who know Theresa well feel deep gratitude for her warmth, enthusiasm, energy, and sense of responsibility at global and universal proportions. She devotes her ability to comprehend vast information from diverse sources to sharing with Friends, profoundly aiding Friends' endeavors. She reflects exceptional rapport with young people, displaying heartfelt congeniality, acceptance, and commitment. She urges the young to envision qualities they would like the world to possess in coming years and to find ways to enable such a world as a reality.
Theresa continues as PYM representative to the United Nations. She supported PYM members attending the U.N. World Conference Against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia, and Related Intolerance in Durban, South Africa. Also, she is active with the Peace Caucus planning committee at the United Nations to present the 54th Annual Department of Public Information/Non Governmental Organization (DPI/NGO) Conference in September.
Friends look forward to continuing endeavors with Theresa, a member of Trenton Meeting (NJ) and the United Nations and Abolish Nuclear Weapons Working Groups of PYM, in her many capacities, but especially as our faithful Friend.
