hiladelphia Yearly Meeting's “balanced budget” for the current fiscal year 2000-2001 will be met only if Friends successfully raise the Annual Fund goal of $460,000 before June 30, 2001. Friends still need to raise $190,000 of that goal. Volunteers are needed to make phone calls to raise money on four different evenings this spring.
The phonothon takes place in the PYM offices at Friends Center, 15th and Cherry Streets, Philadelphia. Dinner is provided at 6:00 p.m. followed by a brief training. Calls are made from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The dates are Wednesday, May 30; Thursday, May 31; Monday, June 4; Tuesday, June 5.
Carpool or come alone. Bridge toll and parking will be reimbursed. Park in the lot on 15th Street between Race and Cherry after 5:00 p.m.
This is an opportunity to serve our extended faith community, to meet Friends from other Meetings, and to visit with some friends you may not have seen in a long while. The former clerk of the Yearly Meeting described her phonothon volunteer experience as “fun.”
The phonothon raises approximately $29,000 – making it an important event. To make it a successful event will require many volunteers. Please serve our Yearly Meeting by agreeing to take part in the Annual Fund phonothon.
