Eliminating Yearbook considered in favor of Web posting of reports

RETURN TO TABLE OF CONTENTS

The Support and Outreach Standing Committee is considering a proposal under which the Yearly Meeting would cease to publish a Yearbook with annual reports. Instead, reports of committees and minutes of Yearly Meeting sessions would be posted on the PYM website, and paper copies would be sent to certain libraries for archival purposes.

Elimination of the printed Yearbook would enable PYM to publish reports on the Web without adding staff, by allowing Publications Coordinator Allen Reeder to redirect his efforts from the Yearbook to the web site.

The Standing Committee appointed a subcommittee to consider changes to the Yearbook, and the subcommittee is asking Friends to send written comment to help the Standing Committee with its decisions. Such comment should include the value of having the reports in one form or another. Will Friends without computers be able to get the information they need from the PYM website by visiting their public library or asking a friend?

Send your comments to Yearbook Subcommittee, c/o Allen Reeder, Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, 1515 Cherry Street, Philadelphia PA 19102 or e-mail allenr@pym.org.

The members of the subcommittee are Paul Brink of Media Meeting (PA), Pamela Carter of Wilmington Meeting (DE), and Gennyfer Moll of Westfield Meeting (NJ).

Copies of the 1999-2000 Yearbook are available on request from Allen Reeder.
